Our 2024 Social Media Predictions!

Looking back on 2023, it’s been an exciting year in the world of social media. Or exhausting, depending on who you ask. There’s been considerable shifts in the social media landscape, like the introduction of new social platforms like Threads to whatever’s going on with X/Twitter. These major changes have considerably altered some of our predictions for 2024, so let's go over our 2024 predictions!

Brands commit to their best-performing platforms

For the last few years, the social media strategy for many brands has included being active on as many platforms as possible. After all, more exposure is always a goal. However, the increasing frequency of major changes on social media platforms combined with the rise of many new platforms this year has shown that this strategy is no longer feasible. Instead of trying to be active on every platform, it’s now better to focus on your best-performing platforms.

Focusing on specific platforms allows you to tailor your content to best fit the platform’s unique audiences, trends, hashtags, and more. An example of this is vertical video optimization. Depending on the platform, video content may perform better when presented in different ways. Instagram, for example, is literally made for vertical video content with Instagram Reels. Optimizing your content to best fit each platform may seem tough, but by focusing on your best-performing platforms, you don’t need to put nearly as much time into optimization.

Even more integration of User-Generated Content (UGC):

User-generated content continues to be a driving force in digital marketing, and in 2024, we can expect brands to further embrace and integrate UGC into their content strategies. UGC comes in a wide variety of forms. Reviews, photos of the product in use, or just personal opinion of a product from a customer are all UGC.

Nowadays, a majority of customers look at reviews before a purchase. So, incorporating these reviews into your social content is a no-brainer. Encouraging customers to share their experiences, reviews, and creative interpretations of products or services not only builds a sense of community but also provides an authentic and diverse perspective that resonates with potential buyers. If you’re unfamiliar with social media and aren’t sure how to determine which of your platforms perform the best, let Legend assist you. Video content continues its dominance, with some changes

Video content has always been a powerhouse in digital marketing, and we don’t expect that to change anytime soon. Short-form videos, live streaming, and interactive video experiences have become prevalent through platforms like TikTok and YouTube, meaning marketers need to invest in video content creation and optimization to stay competitive.

As part of staying competitive, we predict some shifts in the type of video content being produced. While short-form content is expected to stay relevant for a long time, its dominance for the last few years has oversaturated the market. To stand out amongst the crowd, brands are going to need to switch up their video strategy.

One big way we expect brands to attempt to stand out is by embracing long-form video content. While short-form content is great for quick bursts of attention, it can be difficult to convey large amounts of information in that time. Long-form content, beyond the typical 15-30 second video length, allows for a more in-depth look and conveys much more information than a short video can.
